A Gorgeous Day on the Sound

"Seek opportunity, not security. A boat in the harbor is safe but eventually its bottom will rot out." It was a sunny day last weekend and we decided to head towards the water. With my new tele-photo lens on my camera (that Adam got me for Christmas), the kids in the van, and canoe gear all packed, we headed off to Solo Point. Adam and the older kids went canoeing on the Sound while Rebekah and I hung out on shore. I took pictures, enjoyed a good book (The Count of Monte Cristo), and relaxed in the warm sun on the beach. Rebekah slept soundly in her warm fleece blanket. After a fairly windy journey out to the island and back, the kids returned a little chilly to say the least. It goes without saying, no one wanted to venture out again with Mom. Adam and I considered leaving the kids to fend for themselves while we went out together but we decided to be responsible instead. Before we headed for home, the kids collected shells, sticks and other little critter treasures. It was a fun day! And I love my new camera lens!

That lens is my very favorite. I love the picture with the canoe and cargo zoomed all the way in. Sounds like your day on the "beach" was way more fun than the excursion in the canoe. Did you love the book? It is one of my favorites. But then you probably aren't surprised at all to find I love a story about revenge done well.
